Orgatec communication programme

Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (Basi)
In cooperation with the Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (BASI), Orgatec 2004 will once again be offering an extensive programme of events on all aspects of the topics Health, Safety and Ergonomics.

From 20th to 22nd October 2004, there will be daily presentations from 2 to 5 p.m. by renowned speakers on topics such as "Convention – The Use Value of Products and Services for Office Work", "Knowledge and Creativity – Developments and Requirements in the Office of Tomorrow" and "German Industrial Standard or Feng Shui? Cultural Approaches to the Design of Office Workstations" and "Is Everything Ergonomic? – Criteria for Choosing Office Furniture and Computer Monitors". Parallel to the presentations, BASI will set up exhibits on these topics in the halls, supported by short presentations and panel discussions. In addition, BASI will be organizing an Orgatec Forum on 21st October 2004 where topics such as "Well at Work" and "Office Work – New Outlooks for People with Handicaps" will be discussed.

Facility Management Congress
In cooperation with the International Institute for Facility Management, Orgatec 2004 will also be focusing on the topic of facility management, which overlaps at many points with the topics of office organization, office furnishings and equipment, and work organization. To give just one example, facility management overlaps with office organization in the area known as workflow management. After all, flexible office systems and innovative office designs are ultimately only the visible signs or symbols of altered work structures. The modern and innovative provision of "secondary structures" can bring benefits to a company only if it is the result of processes of change within the user's core business operations. For example, the success of the "flexible office" projects that have been introduced, especially the projects abroad, can be traced back to the successful restructuring of the respective organizations' core business operations.

The topic of facility management will be addressed at Orgatec 2004 within the framework of an Orgatec Facility Management Congress, a Trend Forum, a separate presentation at the Business Forums, and a stand of the International Institute for Facility Management.
